Not in and of itself. It’s a B movie if we are being kind. It’s more about the reaction and ramifications that came it. You know, like the hearings, Nintendo throwing everyone under the bus, and the ratings system which is in effect to this day.

But I would say all of that makes it important, yes. And important doesn’t mean good. But historically it’s an important game; a watershed moment in the industry.

I'm guessing you're thinking Custer's Revenge is necessary for inclusion to any Atari 2600 compilation?

No, I would say those are very different games in tone. The object of Custer’s Revenge was to violate a woman. In Night Trap it was to save lives. So right there, that’s a big difference. CR was sold under the counter I believe, but it didn’t cause a huge uproar. NT DID. Today, the positions would be reversed I am pretty sure and rightfully so.

And I would say NT had significant ramifications on the industry, while CR is an odd footnote.

Also to be considered is the 2600 has a huge library of games.

Does the SEGA CD? Not really. A good portion of the games are remakes or enhanced ports.
